Craft Beer Courses ~What is Nelson Sauvin (Hops)?
This hop was born in the Nelson district, a famous white wine region in New Zealand. It was so named because of its similarity in aroma to the Sauvignon Blanc wine people used to drink in the Nelson area. It is characterized by an elegant aroma reminiscent of white wine.
It was created in 2000 and is attracting attention as a New World product. Its bitter α-acid content is as high as 12-13%, and it is used for both bitterness and aroma.
