Have you ever heard of the term "brewery cat"?

As the name implies, this is what we call the cats at the brewery. They are of course the mascot of the brewery, but they actually play an important role in exterminating rats, birds, and other vermin that would otherwise be harmful to brewing beer.

Barley, the ingredient of beer, is a favorite food of rodents and birds. Chemicals can be used to scare them away, but several brewers keep cats because they do not want to lose the flavor and taste of their beer.
